On Monday, Ed started painting Youngest Hawthorne's room.
Here, he's applying Fresh Mint.
Here, he's applying Fresh Mint.
And I'm liking this color.
The trim, Creme Fraiche, was put on today.
Here, you can see the nice contrast between the walls and the trim. And best of all, Youngest Hawthorne likes it.
Isn't this pretty with the sunlight coming through the dirty window?
This is the view from my bedroom, looking through the hallway to Youngest Hawthorne's bedroom.
I like this shot very much. The light, the lines, the angles. The geometry.
I shot this because I thought it was a nice picture.
I love the color of the walls and I like the lines of the green ladder and I like the light. And I like the points on the right hand side: at top, the triangle window jutting in, and at bottom, the other ladder leg jutting in. Plus, I like the the exposed electrical outlets on the left.
It's all balanced.
And it's a good balance.
It's all balanced.
And it's a good balance.
FloorMan came today to put up the mantel. He's still waiting on materials to finish the left side of it. He also installed the TV and the Bose surround sound. Yeah, the wires are a mess, but FloorMan is going to take care of that. This is all temporary.
Ahh, this is a mess, is it not? We're planning to put the components on shelves on the right hand side of the fireplace and hide the wires and cables.
Now, I'm just figuring out how to turn the damn TV on. (We had one remote for the TV, then got HiDef and that came with another remote.) Now, with this surround sound, I have a third remote and I have no idea how to turn the TV on. This thing is so complicated it's ridiculous.
Oh a little funny here. When Kenny, aka FloorMan, mounted the Sony on the wall, he offered up this little tidbit from the instruction manual:
"DO NOT LET CHILDREN HANG FROM TV!"
Lookie! Lookie!
My Phalaenopsis Orchid is still alive.
Whoot!
Now, here's the fun part of my living room. I have 21 boxes of bird's-eye maple flooring that were delivered today. That's 420 linear feet taking up my living space. The flooring has to set for 3-5 days to acclimate. Yay. Plus on top of that, I have the wood for the maple staircase.
In the meantime, Mr. Hawthorne is repairing my broken eyeglasses. He had to hold the epoxied glasses for 5 minutes. He looks like a great big bug with that magnifier/headset/thingie.
Things are changing. Looking good.
