One of the new products in the Close To My Heart Core Catalog that I was sooooo excited to see was the Wood Grain Paper Pack (X8017).  Look at these wonderful patterns and textures.  And just think, if they aren't the right shade for your project, you can always ink them to match what you're doing.  

I have lots of plans for this paper pack.  I am sure more than one pack will be added to my paper stash.  Being primarily a scrapbooker, there are lots of layout designs whirling through my head especially to scrap my walks through the woods and other nature photos.  But another great option with these papers are more masculine looking layouts and cards.  Since I am in need of some masculine birthday cards, that's what I started with first.  

Leaves are stamped on wood grain paper.
Background paper is Toffee and is scored and sanded.
A little silver embellishing thread was added behind the leaves.

The best part about these cards is that they can be made
with scraps you have left over from other projects.

The sentiments on all these cards are from the October Stamp
of the month, With All My Love.

The cards I've made here, are very simple, but work well for masculine cards.

Glad you could join us today!  A blog hop is just one big loop of fun and creative ideas. So if you're joining me here, grab your beverage of choice, and sit back ready to be inspired by creative ideas for using this new Close To My Heart stamp of the month.  If you are coming here from Becca's blog , you are on the right path.  At the end of this post you will see a link to Stefani's blog for you to continue following the hop.  

The stamp of the month, With All My Love, is a set of 16 stamps that will be especially great for both making cards and creating scrapbook pages.  This set includes many great phrases for making cards.  As always, I'm sure as you go through this hop, you'll see lots of creative and fun ideas for using this stamp set.  

I often prepare scrapbooking pages for the blog hops I participate in, but today I'll share the cards I made using this stamp set.

On my first card, I used a bargello inking technique, one of my favorite techniques to use on cards lately, to create the background.   I learned this technique from another CTMH Maker's You Tube video -  https://youtu.be/zrDoPx-s7Dw  (Thank you, Francine Davis!) The background was achieved using the CTMH inks with a blending brush. I used Glacier, Lagoon, Carolina, Bluebird and Sapphire Inks.  

I embossed the images with white embossing powder and then shaded in the flowers with the Tri-Blend Alcohol Markers ( Blue turquoise BT17,  Blue turquoise BT3, and True Blue TB5).  I also used the alcohol markers to color the Bitty Sparkles I used on this card so they would match the shades of blue that I used.  

I used Bloom With Grace Picture My Life cards to create the other cards I made.  I embossed the images so they would pop a bit more since I didn't plan to color the images this time.

I stamped with CTMH Intense Black Ink and then embossed
with clear embossing powder.  This card was so easy since the sentiments I
chose fit the preprinted white spaces on the PML card perfectly!

After stamping with Versamark Ink on Sangria cardstock, I embossed the images with
white embossing powder and then cut them out and used foam tape to raise the images.  Finally, I added Bitty Sparkles in a few places to give a bit of shine.

Two PML cards were used here with the white embossing again.  For the centers of the flowers, I used white enamel dots and colored them with a Tri-Blend alcohol marker
to try to match them to the back mat on the card.
