I think that this is the 2nd paper book I have read since I finished school. (I read Seven Summits before Sara was born) I've read some Audible books but not actually held and read a real paper book.
I was at Melissa's house in November trying to find a book to read to meet my goal. I picked this one because it looked thin (214 pages). And it is a famous book so the next time I'm talking with really smart and well read people I can pretend to be smart and well read too (as long as we just talk about that one book).
It was an interesting book. It was an easy read. I got out of this book:
- Everyone is phony including yourself.
- Your perception of yourself is distorted and incorrect.
- It's easy to see flaws in others. Harder to see that you have the same flaws.
- Your perception of others is distorted and incorrect.
- If I could write down all the thoughts I had over a week and then read them with a 3rd person perspective what would I find? What would I want to change?
- The world is not what it seems when you are a child. The transition to adulthood can be confusion and scary as you realize it isn't what you thought it was and isn't how it should be.
I'm now taking suggestions on a book to read next year in comments below.
P.S. Thanks Melissa for the motivation and encouragement to read a book and lending it to me.
