We were recently sent this six-episode DVD of Tree Fu Tom for review.
I must confess it was not something W had watched much of prior to being sent this disc but it has fast become one of his favourite shows.
Tom appears to be a normal eight year old boy but when he puts on his magic belt and performs a special sequence of movements, (that is the tree-fu bit) he transforms into a tiny but might little superhero.
This DVD covers six of his adventures in the magical world of Treetopolis with his friends and, when help is needed, Tom can perform his tree-fu to summon up the magical energy required to save the day. You, or your child, as the viewer are encouraged to join in with the moves and help Tom on his mission.
After just a few episodes W began to recognise when action was needed and the cry of “Magic Mummy Magic!” would erupt as I was forcibly dragged from the sofa, but I do think it is a great idea to encourage a bit of physical activity at such a young age so am happy to join in. This programme does appear to be unique in this nature.
I was also quite impressed that the emphasis of each adventure was on that of friendship, loyalty and learning more about nature and the world around us.
I know I may have had a bit of a rant about Kids TV in the past and, trust me, there is plenty of it I still can’t stand, but Tree Fu Tom is one that I have really come to like and W really enjoys it.
This is one I would definitely recommend for little viewers.

Disclosure: No payment was received for this post however we were sent a copy of the DVD free of charge for the purpose of this review.
