There were many times when I had to deal with data loss caused by archive errors. Trying to recover the lost information can be a very tedious task.
I can't say this program is the best there is, but it successfully repaired my broken archive and extracted the documents I needed. A good thing about using this repairing tool is that it can fix spanned archives (a ZIP file that is split into multiple files).
Adding to that, the batch processing feature might prove of good use when you have to repair the CCR errors in a large number of damaged ZIP archives.
To me, the program's name created some false expectations as it lacked advanced features (Windows shell integration, a more complete log file, etc.) and the ZIP file repair and extraction took more than I expected.
As far as I'm concerned, it's worth trying Zip Repair Pro as it fully repairs broken ZIP archives which is its main purpose after all. I think that its effectiveness compensates for many of its shortcomings, so it's surely worth the small price that is being asked for it.
Pros
- Intuitive interface
- Supports batch ZIP repair
- Can extract files from ZIP files
Cons
- Unable to proceed with other tasks while repairing
- No Pause button available
- Supports only the ZIP format
I bought the Pro-Version; it produced only an empty archive file.
