Most Nokeval serial devices support Nokeval SCL protocol.
The protocol itself is quite simple, but SCL commands can't be sent using regular terminal programs, since there are special characters needed that can't be obtained from the keyboard, and also there is a checksum that is hard to calculate manually.
Sicala is a free program that can be used to send SCL commands when testing the system. You can see that the remote devices are working and the connection is OK before trying to use your own application. Sicala has also limited capabilities to send clock time or text from a file to a serial display and can be used for displaying e.g. advertisements on alphanumerical displays.
