Fractint is a free program that will generate fractal drawings.
The fractal art is a form of algorithmic art in which a program calculates fractal objects and represents the results as still images, animations, or media. Most known icons of this form of art are the Julia and Mandelbrot sets.

Fractint can calculate fractal objects, and modify them applying different settings. This program does not need to be installed, you can run the file WINFRACT.EXE included in the archive that you downloaded. When you launch the program, it will show you the classic Mandelbrot drawing. You can ask it to change the included 104 fractal formulas. Then, you can change the value of the parameters included in the formula as you like. In seconds, Fractint will show you the right drawing. Through the "Basic Options", "Extended Options" or "3D Params" menu you can alter some of the general settings of the program. The "Starfield" option will convert the drawing in stars on a black sky. You can choose how many points will form a star, or the ratio that they will have.

In brief, Fractint is an interesting program to explore the fractal drawings.

When I bought my first Windows PC (1994) this was one of the programs which helped make me comfortable with using a computer.
I have always had an interest in fractals and my first email address was a combinationword including the term. For a while I had it as a Gmail account but someone stole it and I now see the word cropping up in various places: Fractaleyes as far as I know I was the first.
Back to Fractint. A great program to generate some great visuals and get a feel for fractals and their diversity.
I'm back trying to find a version which runs on the infernal 10.

The reason it does not run, it's a 16-bit program, and they do not run on modern 64-bit versions of Windows.
