Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along.
The first episode of Agatha All Along, much like WandaVision before it, began with an homage to a style of television. Starting out as a procedural drama before shifting into the urban fantasy setting that can be expected from a show like this, the first episode in the series was able to introduce a slew of easter eggs which could lead to some big ramifications for the MCU ahead of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

The MCU’s second Disney Plus series this year Agatha All Along has finally premiered on the streaming platform with the first two episodes. The series premiere seems to take off right from the end of WandaVision, with Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness being stuck in a similar TV show world.
Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch was implied to be dead at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the series also refers to her death. The in-show tease seems to indicate that Olsen might just make an appearance in the show. However, the actress recently mentioned that only really smart writers could come up with a way to revive her.

Heavy spoilers for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" to follow.
Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice" has a rather peculiar relationship with death. It flips the script on the possession horror film; rather than having evil ghosts haunting the living, it follows a ghost couple being terrorized by an obnoxious family in their own home. Additionally, the film's portrayal of the afterlife is neither a hellish inferno nor a perfect utopia. Instead, it is horribly dull and ridden with bureaucracy. But it doesn't stop there; "Beetlejuice" also has some, shall we say, creative takes on dying, like how its young heroine Lydia (Winona Ryder) spends most of the movie saying she wants to die by suicide so she can spend more time with her ghost friends. Death is absurd, unpredictable, and even alluring in the world of "Beetlejuice."
It makes sense, then, that the sequel would double down on the deaths. "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" begins with...

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things (which is also the last season of the show) finally went into production at the start of the year and is now deep into its twelve month shooting schedule… So deep, in fact, that the cast has gotten together for a read-through the script for the final episode – and while speaking with ComicBook.com, cast member David Harbour revealed there was “heavy weeping” during the reading of that script.
Stranger Things has the following synopsis: A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star Arthur Conti went from zero to sixty in record time. The English actor turned the equivalent of a high school musical into representation, which led to a two-line day on House of the Dragon and an acclaimed performance at London’s Park Theatre. Toward the end of his run on stage in Winner’s Curse, he put himself on tape for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton and Michael Keaton’s 1988 genre mashup, Beetlejuice. Unexpectedly, Conti soon found himself in the middle of a Zoom callback with Burton and the town’s newly anointed superstar, Jenna Ortega.
Within two hours, Conti officially landed the role of Jeremy Frazier, who Ortega’s character, Astrid Deetz, would eventually refer to as her “date from hell.” Astrid — having been estranged from her mother, Lydia (Winona Ryder), since the divorce and death of her father Richard (Santiago Cabrera...

“Sabrina the Teenage Witch” is a certified Criterion title, believe it or not.
The beloved franchise about a beloved occult teen, iconically played by Melissa Joan Hart, is officially amongst the new streaming selections for the Criterion Channel. “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” centered on Sabrina (Hart), a high school student who lives with her two aunts Hilda (Caroline Rhea) and Zelda (Beth Broderick) as she navigates coming into her powers. Her cat Salem (Frank Conniff) also provides snarky spiritual guidance.
The ABC-produced franchise was based on the comic book series that debuted in 1971. The “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” show is available to stream on Paramount+ as of 2023.
The 1996 TV movie was a spinoff of the TV series, and was followed by 1998’s “Sabrina Goes to Rome” and 1999’s “Sabrina Down Under.”
Now, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” joins Criterion’s “Witches” programming for October 2024, ushering in the 40-year anniversary of the Criterion platform.

It’s no secret that the Covid-19 pandemic upended the movie theater business in 2020, but in the years since, the industry has slowly climbed back. In 2021, 14 movies were able to cross the coveted $100 million mark at the U.S. box office. In 2022, that number jumped up to 18 films. And in 2023, there were a whopping 25 such blockbusters. So how many features released during the current 2024 calendar year will end up becoming box office behemoths? Stay tuned.

The Criterion Channel’s at its best when October rolls around, consistently engaging in the strongest horror line-ups of any streamer. 2024 will bring more than a few iterations of their spooky programming: “Horror F/X” highlights the best effects-based scares through the likes of Romero, Cronenberg, Lynch, Tobe Hooper, James Whale; “Witches” does what it says on the tin (and inside the tin is the underrated Italian anthology film featuring Clint Eastwood cuckolded by Batman); “Japanese Horror” runs the gamut of classics; a Stephen King series puts John Carpenter and The Lawnmower Man on equal playing ground; October’s Criterion Editions are Rosemary’s Baby, Night of the Hunter, Häxan; a made-for-tv duo includes Carpenter’s underrated Someone’s Watching Me!; meanwhile, The Wailing and The Babadook stream alongside a collection of Cronenberg and Stephanie Rothman titles.
Otherwise, Winona Ryder and Raúl Juliá are given retrospectives, as are filmmakers Arthur J. Bressan Jr. and Lionel Rogosin.

Tim Burton's new film "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" has made over $153 million to date, which is surprising for a 34-years-after-the-fact sequel to an eerie, unusual comedy about unhappy rural ghosts (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) and the randy demon (Michael Keaton) they hire as a professional haunter. Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara return from the original film, now 34 years older and at new places in their lives. It seems that Betelgeuse still has randy, wedding-forward machinations at hand.
It's unusual that "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" finally got made, seeing as how several "Beetlejuice" projects had deflated in the past. Back in 1988, when "Beetlejuice" became a hit, two "Beetlejuice" sequels were immediately commissioned, and Hollywood was abuzz with where a follow-up might go. One of the original ideas was to be called "Beetlejuice in Love," written by Warren Skaaren, one of the first film's most active script doctors. That never-made film was to...

Tim Burton had to cut his 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' budget by almost $50 million. The legendary filmmaker had to make some changes to get Warner Bros to greenlight his highly anticipated sequel to the original 1988 classic, with studio bosses originally pushing for the movie to be made for the Max streaming service.Warner co-chair Pamela Adby told the New York Times newspaper: "That was never going to work for Tim."You’re talking about a visionary artist whose films demand to be seen on a big screen.”However, Adby and her fellow film executive Michael De Luca were cautious, after movies like 'Dumbo' failed to make a splash at the box office. The projected budget for the 'Beetlejuice' sequel was around $147 million, with the bulk of that set aside for star salaries and fees for producers. This was seen as too risky, with the outlet reporting...

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has been blowing up the box office, having already grossed over $264 million less than two weeks after its release. It’s a much-needed win for Warner Bros., which makes it all the more surprising that the studio had originally planned to give the Beetlejuice sequel a streaming release on Max.
It’s been a long road for the Beetlejuice sequel, and according to a New York Times report, Warner Bros. didn’t have a lot of faith that the project would be a success. They still wanted the film but were pushing for it to be released exclusively on the Max streaming service. Director Tim Burton wasn’t a big fan of that idea. “That was never going to work for Tim,” said studio co-chair Pamela Abdy. “You’re talking about visionary artist whose films demand to be seen on a big screen.“

While Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is one of Warner Bros’ biggest theatrical success stories of the year, at over $264 million in worldwide grosses and counting, there was a period in the decade-plus the studio was mulling the sequel in which execs advocated for the film to go straight to streaming on Max.
However, “that was never going to work for Tim,” says Pamela Abdy, Co-Chair of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, in a new interview with the New York Times. “You’re talking about a visionary artist whose films demand to be seen on a big screen.”
But while Abdy and Co-Chair Mike De Luca, who assumed the top film posts at Warner Bros in 2022, were highly enthusiastic about getting the Beetlejuice sequel made, they knew its budget would have to come down, for a theatrical release to make sense. Now this is spooky: Tim Burton’s long-awaited “Beetlejuice” sequel almost received a streaming-only release. But thanks to Burton’s budget cuts and negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery executives, plans for a potential Max-exclusive were scrapped in favor of a full theatrical debut.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” which stars Michael Keaton reprising his role of the titular ghoul after the 1988 original, is a box-office hit — at least in the U.S. — following its world premiere at Venice 2024. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has grossed more than $264 million at the worldwide box office since its September 6 release. A weak international performance is presently sullying the results a bit.
But Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy took a victory lap in the New York Times all the same. The Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group co-chairs told the publication that Burton refused a to let “Beetlejuice 2” go streaming-only.
“That was never going to work for Tim,” Abdy said said.

Good things come to those who wait; just ask Warner Bros. The studio and Tim Burton spent close to four decades kicking around ideas for a sequel to the director's classic 1988 horror-comedy "Beetlejuice," ranging from the much ballyhooed 1990s "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian" script to "Beetlejuice goes to ... outer space," or so Burton joked (?) in the weeks leading up to this month's "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice." The final version of the sequel has been widely hailed as a long-awaited return-to-form for the maestro of the zany and macabre, both critically and, as WB is no doubt happy to see, financially. But before executives finally said the B-word three times, it appears they came precariously close to scrapping the entire venture.

What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, but a bad title can seriously damage a movie's prospects at the box office. Just look at "Edge of Tomorrow," a great Tom Cruise sci-fi action thriller whose generic moniker no doubt hurt its commercial performance. In fact, Warner Bros. even went so far as to redub the 2014 film "Live Die Repeat" upon its home market release.

This is a few years later, 15, 16, came in, we were supposed to be love interests, but because he obviously felt weird and he was a bit older, he was like … we both just kind of looked at each other and were like, ‘No, we can’t do this.’ It was so sweet, because I was uncomfortable and I was having a hard time in the audition. And then we wished each other well.

“This really is my first everything,” admits Arthur Conti. “Everything is so new to me.”
The young British actor isn’t exaggerating. When we meet at Soho House in London, he’s sporting the sort of wide-eyed expression of someone trying to come to terms with a couple of life-changing weeks that might be difficult to put into words.
For starters, Conti recently got back from the Venice Film Festival opening night world premiere of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” alongside director Tim Burton and fellow castmembers Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe.
“And also Sigourney Weaver’s there, and Isabelle Huppert and Taylor Russell and all these people watching me on a very big screen… and then there’s all this clapping … it’s hard to believe,” he says.
The disbelief is understandable. Because not only did Venice mark Conti’s “first ever film festival,...

Elizabeth Olsen has been in front of cameras innumerable times, and still never once failed to deliver some really epic performances. This, obviously, especially includes her time as the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, during which she also pretty much whooped up Thanos’ butt in one of the most fan-favorite scenes of Avengers: Endgame to date.

But while that badass scene had fans baffled at the power of Olsen, something else seems to have put up a competition to it. This “something” was actually the actress’s sexy dancing with Winona Ryder while promoting a brand. This clip notably came a year before the 2019 blockbuster masterpiece itself, but it has been topping the iconic scene nonetheless.

Bill Hader has some big news on behalf of Criterion: The famed Criterion Closet is going on a nationwide road trip.
After social media sleuths spotted a Criterion-branded van on the street, IndieWire can announce that the Criterion Closet is in fact going on the road.
Criterion has built a replica of their famous film closet inside an 18-foot delivery van and will be taking their Criterion Closet Picks show across the U.S., starting in New York City at the New York Film Festival on September 28 and 29, plus October 5 and 6. This weekend, Tim Burton’s smash hit sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, will have to do battle with a handful of new releases – Speak No Evil and The Killer’s Game. Given the film’s $100 million-plus opening last week, none of these films will pose a significant threat to “The Ghost with the Most,” with it a no-brainer that it will once again dominate the box office.
The big question is, how front-loaded was the movie? Given that fans have been waiting thirty-six years for a sequel, one could argue that the people who were hellbent on seeing the movie all went on the first weekend, with the second weekend depending a bit more on word-of-mouth. Yet, the movie also has significant star power, with Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder both riding renewed waves of success, with new star Jenna Ortega no doubt bringing in a hefty audience herself, with her Netflix show...

Hurricane Francine in Louisiana won’t scare off Beetlejuice Beetlejuice as the Tim Burton directed Warner Bros. sequel is expected to ease -60% in its second weekend making it the second best second frame for September with around $44M. If that projection holds, it will rank behind New Line’s record September second weekend for It ($60.1M).
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice notched the second-best Tuesday in September behind 2017’s It’s $11.4M with $9M and a running $126.1M domestic cume. For anyone keeping track of Burton’s highest grossing movies stateside, it’s Alice in Wonderland ($334.1M) then Batman ($251M). Currently, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is pacing 12% behind It over five days, that pic ending its initial run at $327.4M (lifetime is $328.8M).
Meanwhile, Hurricane Francine weakened to a tropical storm last night, per CNN, and pushed into the Louisiana inland. We heard there were about 20 theaters that shuttered yesterday from the New Orleans suburbs to Baton Rouge.

[This story includes spoilers for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.]
Clocking in at just under two minutes, the involuntary calypso dance sequence in the original Beetlejuice, during which Catherine O’Hara’s Delia Deetz leads her dinner guests in a lip sync of Harry Belafonte’s “Day-o,” is arguably the most famous scene from the 1988 film. An homage in the sequel was always a given.
But, for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, director Tim Burton wanted to go even harder. The film’s climax includes another dance number — this one set to all seven minutes and 21 seconds of Richard Harris’ bonkers and much covered “MacArthur Park.” (Donna Summer’s disco-fied version spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the fall of 1978.) It isn’t just another needle drop. It practically drives the narrative of the entire third act.
Screenwriters Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, no strangers to the Burton-verse with their massive hit Netflix series Wednesday, spoke with...

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is making headlines after admitting to fathering a child outside of his marriage. It’s not the first time that the rocker’s wandering eye has gotten him into trouble. More than two decades ago, Grohl reportedly cheated on his then-girlfriend Louise Post with actor Winona Ryder.

In 2021, Post took to Instagram to share an isolated drums + vocals mix of the song, which is about her and Grohl’s relationship.

The hit comedy sitcom, Community, first aired in 2009 and ran for six seasons until 2015. It left an indelible mark on the world of television. The show’s quirky humor, lovable misfits, and heartfelt moments helped create a loyal fan base that has been clamoring for more.
The call of #sixseasonsandamovie that started as an inside joke snowballed into a fan cry, demanding a follow-up movie. Though announced in 2022, several factors caused a delay in further updates of the movie and it all seemed bleak. Until recently Donal Glover spoke with Deadline, about the status of the movie. It seems like comedy fans might get their new magnum opus in the new Community movie.

The juice is loose! The Ghost with the most is back! Beetlejuice has returned!
Michael Keaton reprised his role as the legendary bio-exorcist in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited 2024 sequel to the 1988 classic. He wasn't alone, either, as Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara returned along with director Tim Burton and Danny Elfman for a truly glorious, off-the-wall, campy, and horrifying outing worthy of its outlandish predecessor.
The sequel is an interesting one as it captures much of the '80s charm of the original while also appealing to modern audiences, thanks in no small part to Wednesday's Jenna Ortega, who appeared as the daughter of Lydia Deetz, Astrid.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a harrowing experience for the Deetzes once again, but what does it all mean?

Praise Betelgeuse: Tim Burton is back, baby.
For fans of the goth icon and his own peculiar vision of blockbuster filmmaking, the past few years have not exactly been an easy time to shake senora and jump in the line. Once one of popular cinema’s most distinctive auteurs, producing populist hits like “Beetlejuice” and “Batman Returns” that truly could only have been made through his distinctive lens, Burton’s output became increasingly scattershot in the 21st century. But even failures like his “Planet of the Apes” retelling were balanced out by more successful efforts
It was around 2010 when Burton increasingly became subsumed in passionless, frictionless franchise fare, from his pointless “Alice in Wonderland” take to his baffling 2019 remake of “Dumbo.” Along the way, all of the signature elements that make a Burton film so distinct — gothic architecture and aesthetics reminiscent of German Expressionism, suburban kitsch, quirky black comedy suitable for adults and children alike,...

This article contains mild spoilers for "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice."
Tim Burton's 1988 film "Beetlejuice" followed the post-death adventures of Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) after they died in a driving accident. By the movie's lore, the afterlife is a soul-deadening bureaucracy and ghosts have to wait in years-long, Dmv-like lines just to talk to their personal social workers. The Maitlands are unexpectedly assigned a haunting job that, according to some oblique contract, will require them to stay inside their country home for the next 125 years. This only becomes an issue when the house is sold and a family of caustic, stressed-out yuppies move in.
Luckily, the Maitlands bond with the yuppies' teenage daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder), as she is a gloomy Goth able to see ghosts. By the end of the film, the Maitlands and the yuppies, the Deetzes, learn to live in the same house.

If there ever was a filmmaker who wasn't afraid to let his freak flag fly, it's Tim Burton. Years before the likes of Clive Barker, Guillermo del Toro, Edgar Wright, and other horror geeks began making films, Burton was infusing all of his short films and subsequent feature films with homages to all manner of horror film ephemera. Even though Burton has expanded and experimented with his personal aesthetic over the course of his career, he's never lost his horror nerd credentials. After a quiet couple of weeks at the box office, Tim Burton brought it roaring back to life with a sequel more than three decades in the making. "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" hit theaters this past weekend and, in doing so, provided 2024 with one of its biggest opening frames of the year as audiences flocked to see Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz reunited all these years later for another round of supernatural hijinks.
"Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" earned an estimated $110 million domestically over the weekend, easily giving it the number one spot on the charts. The sequel also pulled in $35.4 million overseas, giving it a $145.4 million global start. For context, the original "Beetlejuice" made just shy of $75 million during its entire run at the box office. The sequel has already made nearly double that in a single weekend. The tragedy of being the most successful person on a job is that all eyes are trained on the star. For celebrities and filmmakers, that attention and scrutiny increases tenfold due to the nature of their profession. When it comes to Hollywood in the 1990s, Julia Roberts happened to be the most in-demand A-lister after the actress’s interminable acclaim after Pretty Woman.

The new live-action, supernatural comedy feature "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” directed by Tim Burton, earned ‘domestic’ $110,000,000 and ‘international’ $35,400,000, for a ‘worldwide’ total box office gross of $145,400,000, after 3 days in 7 theatrical markets:
"...after being finally let out of the 'Netherworld Waiting Room' having been waiting since 1988, the sinister 'Beetlejuice' (Keaton) is summoned back to Earth by the children of 'Lydia Deetz/Loughty' (Winona Ryder), 'Markus' (Johnny Depp) and 'Barbara Loughty' (Helena Bonham Carter).

It's always risky reviving a beloved movie series long after the fact. The original Beetlejuice movie, about a malevolent spirit (Michael Keaton) who causes chaos for a family, came out back in 1988. Now, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has debuted in theaters, with original cast members like Keaton and Winona Ryder (Lydia Deetz) returning for the occasion, along with newcomers like Jenna Ortega as Astrid. Could lightning strike twice?
That's a big yes. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice swept up nearly $150 million from around the world ($111 million domestic) in its opening weekend, already handily beating its budget of $100 million. According to The A.V. Club, it's the second best opening weekend in director Tim Burton's career, beaten only by Alice in Wonderland, which made $116 million domestically back in 2010.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is unique in that it uses mostly practical rather than computer-generated effects, very uncommon for a major spectacle movie like this today. I dunno if that...

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Topples Deadpool & Wolverine's Record-Breaking Box Office - Main Image
Despite Deadpool & Wolverine's record-breaking run at the box office, it can't stay at the top forever. Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice just stole the spotlight away from the MCU duo by taking the top spot!
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's Record-Breaking Box Office Knocks Deadpool & Wolverine
Deadpool & Wolverine became the fourth biggest Hollywood Superhero opening upon its theatrical release.
To put things into perspective: its $211.4M opening beat previous record-holding acclaimed films such as Disney's live-action The Lion King ($191.8M), Black Panther ($202M), The Avengers ($207.4M), and Jurassic World ($208.8M).
That, however, changed when Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice made its recent debut, on September 6, as it scaled up to $101M in North America ($145M globally).
The Beetlejuice sequel became director Tim Burton's 2nd biggest opening, 2nd best September opening, and 2nd biggest opening ever for a horror film, surpassing Warner Bros....

The ghost with the most is back, back, back — and 36 years on, Michael Keaton's black-and-white suited bio-exorcist has clearly still got the juice. At least, that's certainly the picture painted by Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's opening weekend at the box office, which saw Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel to his zany 1988 comedy chiller bag a cool $145 million worldwide. To put that figure into context, not only has Burton's latest zoomed into second-place in the all-time September opening weekend rankings stateside (beaten only by Andy Muschietti's It), but its impressive global cume also makes it a career-best start for several of its stars — including Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, and Jenna Ortega.
The bulk of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's box office business over the weekend was done on Burton's home turf, with cinemagoers turning out in their droves to drive the film to a $110 million domestic open. But given the fact the...

The world has gone wild for Beetlejuice. 36 years after the original movie arrived in theaters, its long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has made its presence felt across the globe. And what an impression it has made, performing so well that it has outgrossed its predecessor in its opening weekend alone. Yes, nearly four decades later, fans are still loving "the Juice".
The sequel catches us up with some of our faves, as Michael Keaton reprises his role as the titular demon of the underworld, joined by fellow returnees Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara. Both Lydia and Delia Deetz had major roles in the previous film, so it makes sense that they have returned for the second installment. However, there are some notable absences.
You might have noticed that Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis did not return as Adam and Barbara Maitland; the couple at the center of the underworld drama in...
