Very powerful image Gayle! The 2 fingers are a sign of victory in some places in the world, admire your courage!

P.C. Skinner's got it going - "For What it Worth' (Buffalo Springfield) Our band PUS used to play that, High distortion blasting through the Marshalls (Like nails on a chalkboard). Anyway, love this shot Gayle, simple and strong (but which war is it, Iraq or the one on the streets of New Orleans?) A great shot, Mark

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children,
What's that sound, everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

A great image and something that needs to be said. The Iraq war is stupid and pointless and our soldiers need to come home.

Hi Gayle,

that's strong. both in simplicity, message and composing. the lonely hand coming out of nowhere, going straight through our hearts. victory for peace.

hugs, thilo

M.A.Mora, i am not here to debate anyone's personal politics...this is one shot at one of over 1,600 vigils held nationwide and in Paris on Aug.17,2005.....i am sure if you do a google search, you will find a wealth of ideas from the reported 62% of Americans supportive of ending the war....i am very supportive of our troops as individuals, but i don't agree with our present administration's directive or reasons for sending them into war..."unpopular speech" has always been attacked throughout history...and always will be....

seems easy to make statements like this one, but I dont see any in the peace movement comeing forth with actual ideas, only critism. also I didnt see these statements while my son freezing in a tent in bosnia, they only pop up if you dislike the president.
