Leslie... thanks for taking the time to look at so many of my images. I'm behind in posting here actually. The point of the extension tube is that it allows you to focus at a closer distance and enhance the magnitude of magnification. The detail you noticed might not have been as clearly presented with out the extension tube. I actually plan on writing an article about the benefits of using one and posting it on my web site. If you like I can let you know when that happens.

I have this lens and I love it...what I want to know is about the extension tube...with the flower so close, what is the reason for using the tube?
BTW...this is an outstanding example of light and detail...beautiful colors...I learn alot from looking through your images...again...beautiful

They are hard to get the color out of for details poppies that is. I haven't used a tripod for them. Maybe if you tweeked the colors some. This one looks fine somewhat like art. Excellent composition.

Wow, natural light and all! This poppy radiates fire! I love how the petals are almost soft and glowing... puts more emphasis on the colour and the lines rather than the details and sharpness. I love the lines in the petals leading up from the bottom... the colours just POP!
