Thanks for your very helpful comment, Thilo. In the meantime I'm using noise ninja for grain reduction, it works quite well. I don't know what I did with this, but thought, that the grain was not so bad. It's not always the most perfect pictures that please most.
Regards, Markus

Hi Markus,
awesome DOF composing, you showed a great eye for including the icy knot here. I first thought that you added the grain deliberately, but now I read that you didn't. hmmh...
normally you don't add grain by chance. every action in PS like levels, curves or layer works enhance any grain that is always there. you multiply the general grain. What I do is to treat the image first with a tool like neat image to reduce the grain. then I start with any action. this reduces the possibility of visible grain.
anyway, the subject is great. compliments.
best wishes,
thilo

The grain probably comes from my inexperienced work with PS. It cannot be seen on the original photo.

Nice study. From the thumbnail, it seemed a flower so the title actually works in many ways.

Markus, another great and remarkable shot. Nicely composed and framed. A lower ISO (if you didnt have any movement) may have helped with the grain (my guess). A very good shot.

Thank you, Markus, also for your generous comments on my "Rachel's dream" and my "Yaniv's birthday 2." It's impossible to show you how I reach these results. All I can tell you is that I implement what I learned in the three photoshop lessons I had so far, and not even all I learned in them, as I can't remember everything my teacher (a nurse, former Rachel's colleague now turned computer and photoshop expert) who comes to our home once a week taught me. So what you ought to do to reach such results is take a good photoshop course (I stress good, because I aleady had one course, but the teacher was too busy with his other students that I learned almost nothing.) I can promise you that once you take a good course, it's not difficult and all you have to do is use your imagination. I hardly take new photos now. I "photoshop" with the ones I have. Best regards, Rafi
