Shirley - Yeah, maybe. Although I do like the way the leaf blends into the background.

Yes, better, James, although I find the white areas distracting.

Shirley - I agree about the contrast. I don't like your crop any better than mine so I found a different one altogether. I did a b&c adjustment (-5, +15).

Great bug, James, but needs some perking up. Here I've cropped and boosted the contrast.:)

The detail in this one is amazing, it feels like you can reach out and touch the bug. Great title you came up with too :)

Chris - Thanks. I do have a couple of caterpillars I shot while in San Jose many months ago:

I tried to shoot this very cool tiny red butterfly, but that was impossible with my little camera. I couldn't get close enough to get an effective shot. Maybe after I get a dSLR.

Hello James, A very interesting bug and could possibly be called 'North West Thorny Devil' Yes the bugs and birds match the climate in some way!! I lived in Washington for some years east of Chehalis. Keep me updated if you find more buggsy fare. Regards, Chris

Not sleeping yet?;-) Colourful cute bug looking a bit spiky which matches the textures on the leaf. X
