About The original is a color shot of some wildflowers in a pot on my windowsill with natural light and reflections of the flowers in the window...this is my attempt to simulate a vintage photo process using paintshop pro8...the border i created reminds me of a shadowbox...

Feedback appreciated...

What's with the profile of the little "Space Kid" in the left hand corner? That's making me really uncomfortable, kinda freaks me out. Like the title, sounds like a Grateful Dead song. Nice abstract work here - so many things come in boxes these days (if you think about it)....

hey you! Thanks for the update about you and for the insightful critique! Like the "fractured memory" reference
I look forward to new work from you and yes,"artists" with unique visions are always missed ;> ...as well as artists with a whimsical or zany sense of humor!
regards,gayle

...and again, you have achieved the 'vintage look' perfectly. i really love the quality of light here, and the patchy shadows in top corners are lush. it reminds me of a fractured memory, beaut...hello again, im back! been so busy recently with the uni year drawing to an end, but never fear, i will be getting some new shots up and ready soon, i promise! glad i was so missed!! ha ha

am quite flattered to have my work be mistaken for Pan's emotive and moody photo-art...and i,too, think he is a sweetheart ;>
Glad you enjoy this one as it seemed to just evolve and reveals a part of myself...
Thanks,cookie!
cheers, gayle (have something to tell ya and will e in a moment)

Nice one Gayle. Love the treatment and the border looks perfectamundo. Funny, but when I saw the thumbnail, my first thought was Pan Giannakis and I got all confused by the name under the photo LOL!!! Well anyway, he's my favourite photoartist on the planet and I think he's the best thing since sliced bread, so that's a compliment to you! Goes straight to my favs... Cheers!

hi,quite the perceptive read of me through my images...i have been told that many of my images reveal ambiguity -hope with an underlying sadness-
Also,i have been told by highly spiritual people
that i am an "old soul"...For as long as i can
remember,i have never been able to shake off an
ever present ache in my heart for those who suffer
throughout our world...tho' i do hope my images also show a glimmer of joy within the simple pleasures i shoot.
Whoa! sorry i got carried away with my reply...
guess i needed that cathartic release..LOL..

The following statement by an American photographer,Gordon Parks, says it best...
"I feel it is the heart, not the eye, that should
determine the content of the photograph. What the eye sees is its own. What the heart can perceive
is a very different matter."

Welcome to UF and thanks for taking the time to view my work,Marija.
peace,gayle

You have so many emotive images in your portfolio, Gayle...there is some cheerful sadness in them, and plenty of spirituality (or at least that's maybe what I project:) )
I love your sepia treatement and grain here. Well done!

hi and thanks for dropping by...the original is slightly soft from the diffused window light, but the enhanced blur here is intentional to create a dream-like atmosphere...to me,originals always convey something different and separate from what i call photo-art versions, thus in my way of thinking about photography, each are separate visions created with crops/toning/contrast levels,etc....appreciate the comment,Chris ;>

Hello Gayle, I do like the effect and it does have a vintage feel to it but not having seen the original my only comment is that it appears to be a bit blurry. I like the lighting very much and the two wildflowers on the edges balance the picture out nicely.
Cheers,
Chris

I got much the same sense of age and depth before even reading your description, Gayle.

Congrats...you sure succeeded with ME.
