I was wondering how digital would handle this type of scene /lighting. Your work shows excellantly of constructs of man (: concrete & steel ? neon & tungsten lighting) and those of nature:(soft light on the river & the brillant hues of the rising sun). combining both the best of night time laspe & daylight photography.

This is awesome impressive.
I like this with the chosen shutter speed rather than a longer one. Even though streams of car lights have appeal, something about the sharp points of light in this image really works well. The rich colors are terrific, as is the composition.

Now thats a really pretty and warm sky creating a nice redish tone over the whole city. The exposure is just rihgt, bringing out the lights in the city while still maintaining a great reflection in the river. The river itself creates a nice split guiding you either side of the shot, really nicely put together. Keep up the great work.

Hi Chris, I too have the same problem w/ the 300D...in those instances I'll usually break out my other 35mm Canon and burn off some slides...it pays to have a deep camera bag lol!

thanks everyone! I agree about stopping down and lengthening the shutter speed. the only reason I avoided it was because with the D70, it has a problem with hot-pixels on long exposures...and I was trying to avoid that. Thanks again for the comments and feedback, I appreciate it!

Nice work, an impressive city scene...siom uch to take in - it must have been 10x as impressive in person, but you did well to record this scene. I might have stopped to down to something like f/16 at 15 seconds...for 2 reasons - 1. to increase the DOF and 2. allow the lights from the cars to become complete unbroken lines of moving light.
