I can't believe July is already coming to an end. Where did the month go?? But it's alright, because the end of another month means another Sew Sampler Box!!! And July's theme is Summer Soiree and it is filled with so much quitly summer goodness!!! I can't wait to start swing with this!!!
I just love the prints and the colors from April Rosenthal's new Berry Basket Fabric!! It truly encompasses a summer picnic :) And how fun is the Fruit Punch Quilt Pattern to go with it!!! I am totally thinking of getting another 2 Berry Basket Jolly Bar's so I can make this same design, just bigger, so that it will be just the right size for a summer picnic!! And with a Chambray background . . . So fun ;)
And the notions for this month are great as well!!!! Of course, Fat Quarter Shop included the Flag Day Tumbler Template that is used in making the Fruit Punch quilt. I so love that they always do that, making it that much easier to get started on the project of the month ;) And I am excited about the Magnafingers Pick-Up Release. This is going straight in my travel kit. I don't know why, but I always seem to drop my pin box when I am at retreat, so this is the perfect addition to my traveling tote. And finally, the Strippy Zipper Pouch Kit is just so cool!!! I am still a little nervous about making pouches and putting in zippers, but this kit will make it so easy :)
And I think I have a plan for the Pressed Flowers Quilt Along!!!! Now I just need time to get started on it and get caught up. August for the win!!! Wish me luck ;)
And just a note, there are currently some openings for Sew Sampler boxes so you can jump right in and start having this lovely little aqua box arrive at your doorstep too!!!
And that is June Sew Sampler Box and I am so looking forward to August Box ;) It will be such a lovely little surprise when things quiet down as everyone will be back in school ;)
It's Month 7 of the Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along and I am just so excited to share another set of blocks!!! Thanks to Fat Quarter Shop' for hosting this awesome quilt along!! I am having so much fun sewing along on these amazing star blocks :) This month we are sharing Block 7 :)
My Barn Star Sampler will finish at 100" x 100" square, so sometimes I will be making more blocks, but this month, it's just 2 like everyone else. And I am just loving the blocks in their Rainbow of Ombre goodness!!! This month's Block 7 is made . . .
in Coral
and Green
I just love these Friendship Star Blocks!!! This month's colors had lots of contrast in them, and I think it just really makes these blocks pop. And I love how light the green is at it gives it such a subtle star look. Now I get to look forward to Month 8, which has a similar look to this month :)
So are you quilting along with all of the star fun as well?? Be sure to share all of your Barn Star Sampler progress on social media with #BarnStarSamplerqal and check out Fat Quarter Shops post for Block 7 for lots more Barn Star Inspiration!!!

I am so thrilled to be sharing a new finish today!!! And it's all about Christmas in July, my favorite!!! I was so excited when my good friends at AccuQuilt asked if I wanted to make a project using all of the Holiday Inspired dies, and you know I can't pass up Christmas quilts!!! But I added a fun twist to this quilt by adding applique pockets so it makes a Christmas Advent Calendar :) How cute is that!!! And super fun, there is a free PDF Christmas Advent Calendar that you can download right here :)
Each day of December, leading up to the 25th has an adorable pocket with Christmas applique. I had so much fun mixing and matching dies to customize each pocket. I even added a "holly berry" on the end of the reindeer's nose to make Rudolph. So cute ;) The pockets can be used to store a treat, list a family fun activity, have a Christmas service idea, or anything your family loves to do leading up to Christmas!! Just fill your Christmas Advent Calendar pockets before December 1st and then enjoy family fun all through the month.
I used Blizzard Fabrics by Sweetwater for Moda to make my Advent Calendar. One Layer Cake is enough to do all of the applique, and then you just need a background yardage, 2 sashing yardages, and a binding. And secure stitching all of the applique in black really makes each design just pop!! I am just so happy with how this came together in all it's Christmas in July goodness!!
I know I have said it before, but I just love my AccuQuilt for cutting applique!! Can you imagine having to trace and then cut out all this applique by hand. Not the way I want to tackle this project ;) The great thing is, there are so many Christmas GO! Dies to choose from to make your Christmas Advent Calendar so cute. Below is a list of the dies I used, see which ones you already have in your die library and maybe add a few more ;) The Christmas Advent Calendar finishes at 42" x 42" so it is a great wall hanging size, and the pockets are large enough to fit a treat.
You actually do all of the quilting before you add the pockets ;) I quilted an all over swirl that gives it a fun snow flurries feel, matching the sashing fabric. Once it is all quilted and bound, then you can add all of the pockets to finish your project ;)
And that is my Christmas Advent Calendar. I hope you love it as much as I do ;) You can download the free pattern here, and if you make your own, I would love to see it. You can share a picture on social media with #happyquiltingwithmc and tag me at @happyquiltingmc or you can always email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your Christmas Advent Calendar's!!!
Oh, and fun little side note . . . if you want to see this shared on YouTube, you can visit the Christmas in July video. It is shared towards the end of the show at 44 minutes in :) It is just so fun to see your projects loved so much, just makes me smile.

Hello Quilting Friends! Today, I am thrilled to be sharing this brand new Stepping Stones quilt as well as a Free PDF Pattern for it!!! This quilt features Shades of Autumn Fabrics by My Minds Eye. I fell in love with this line the first time I saw it. It has so many beautiful fall shades and beautiful artwork in the prints!!! And of course, you have to love the pops of metallic thrown throughout, so great!!!
Stepping Stones is a Jelly Roll/Rolie Polie friendly quilt and you just need one to make this quilt!! You use most all of the strips, and since they are all cut the same size, you can get sewing in no time!! I paired the beautiful prints with the Pina Colada Sparkler Basic for the background and it is the perfect fall neutral, and it is doubly perfect for this quilt as it has some more pops of metallic ;) I used Mocha Texture for the binding and it frames all that pretty patchwork perfectly.
Stepping Stones is a simply twist on a coin collecting quilt. I just offset my rows of coins and then added some sashing. It gives it such a fun design that has a lot of movement while still being super simple to piece ;) It would be perfect for beginners and experts alike and would make a perfect gift!!
The Stepping Stones quilt is picnic Size and finishes at 60" x 75" so it is the prefect size to curl up under a tree with on a Fall day while enjoying a good book. And as I mentioned, there is a free PDF Download of this pattern, so you can make your own!!! To get the FREE PDF Simply Patchwork Pattern Download, just click here and download it :)
When it came time to quilt mine I wanted to add to the "stepping stones" effect. So I added some large pebbles in rows, because truly, there is no better design than pebbles to read "stone". Then I did some fun ribbon candy on the "coin" piecing, and finished up with wavy lines, in the center background sections. I love how they move up throughout the quilt and look like pavers stones ;) This one was so much fun to quilt and I am so happy with how it turned out.
And talk about some amazing texture!!! Isn't that just so awesome ;) So that is my Stepping Stones Quilt,, now how about you make one too!!! When you are finished you can share your quilt with me on social media using hashtags #happyquiltingwithmc and tagging @happyquiltingmc or email me a picture at happyquiltingmelissa@gmail.com. I can't wait to see your Stepping Stones quilts!!!
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing this new quilt and pattern with me!!!

I have already made 2 projects with it, and now I can pair this awesome Fat Eighth bundle with some of the low volume leftovers from those 2 projects to make another amazing Sunnyside quilt!!! Maybe I will make this gorgeous Dinah Quilt but instead of the soft blue print, I will use low volumes, that would be so fun!!!
