So easy and so good! It is salty! If you are salt sensitive, I would recommend cutting back on the salt and adding more later if needed. One of my favorite salts to use is Hawaiian Black Lava Salt. It makes the meat look as though is was cooked on a open spit. For more, see "I Made It II:" Kalua Pig Oven Style Hawaiian Roasted Pork

I don't know... I would think you would need to at least cook it wrapped in Ti leaves and maybe pineapple slices. I am not sure there was a smoke flavor so much as sweet honey flavor in the methods I was used to.

I found Ti leaves at . "The Home Depot"..... I had to buy a hawaiian Ti Plant for like $10.98, but what the heck. I am cooking it right now with the leaves I pinched off the plant. I hope it goes well.

I like your idea of wanting to produce a kalua pig anyway.

I have this in the crockpot now. I used Himalayan Sea Salt and liquid smoke. It could take 20hrs. on low. So excited to try it. We were in Oahu in July 2011 and enjoyed a luau.

Wow... that is too cool. I lived near Greenville too! Interesting how life goes sometimes. Wow... a runza as big as a dinner plate? My gosh! That would feed four people easily. *grin* I can indeed see why your boyfriend is fond of your recipes. :-) As far as email, I think there is an option when you're sent a note for email notices but not a message. I know how you feel about missing messages, but don't worry about me. I'm patient and sometimes I disappear for weeks... but I come back and catch up then. Hugs, Anj
