White Fruit Cake

From a recipe book I got at a yard sale. It was one put together by members of a church and seems to be dated 1976/77. Guess on servings and prep time.
Ingredients
- 2/3C butter shopping list
- 1 7/8C flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice shopping list
- 6 egg whites shopping list
- 1 1/2 C powdered sugar shopping list
- 2/3C candied cherries shopping list
- 1/2C thinly sliced citron shopping list
- 1tsp almond extract shopping list
- 1/2C blanched and shredded almonds shopping list
How to make it
- Cream butter.
- Gradually add flour mixed and sifted with baking soda and lemon juice.
- Beat egg whites until stiff.
- Add sugar to egg whites.
- Combine mixtures and add cherries, almonds, citron, and extract.
- Bake in greased deep cake tin in moderate oven 350F for 1 hour.
