Cranberry Cheese Cake with Creamy Butter Sauce

- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 1 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 cup sour cream shopping list
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract shopping list
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries shopping list
- 1 cup sliced almonds toasted shopping list
- 1-3/4 cups flour divided shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 cup mascarpone cheese softened shopping list
- 1 teaspoon orange zest shopping list
- Sauce: shopping list
- 1-1/2 cups granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 cup heavy cream shopping list
- 2 tablespoon whiskey shopping list
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract shopping list
- 8 tablespoon butter cut into pieces shopping list
How to make it
- In mixing bowl cream eggs and sugar then add sour cream and vanilla.
- In a small bowl combine cranberries, almonds and 2 tablespoons flour then toss to coat.
- In a separate bowl combine remaining flour, baking soda and baking powder.
- Blend into sour cream mixture then fold in cranberry mixture.
- Spread batter into a greased and floured rectangular pan.
- In a small bowl combine mascarpone and orange zest then drop by spoonfuls over batter.
- Bake at 350 for 40 minutes then allow to cool completely.
- Combine sugar, cream and whiskey in a medium saucepan then boil 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat then add vanilla and let cool 5 minutes.
- Stir in butter one piece at a time until all of the butter has been incorporated into sauce.
- Serve at room temperature over cake.

Mascarpone and cranberries seems to be the way to go this season. This is an excellent recipe and why wait for the holidays. My two tubs of cheese are just dying to be used for something new! Thanks for the recipe!
