OLD FASHIONED PRUNE CAKE

- Cake: shopping list
- 2 c. flour shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tsp. ground allspice shopping list
- 1 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
- 1 tsp. nutmeg shopping list
- 1 c. vegetable oil shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 1-1/2 c. sugar shopping list
- 1 c. buttermilk shopping list
- 1 c. chopped prunes shopping list
- 1-1/2 c. chopped pecans shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- In a bowl, mix the flour, soda, salt and spices. In another bowl, combine the oil, eggs, and sugar. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture alternating with the buttermilk. Stir in the prunes, pecans and vanilla. Pour into a greased tube pan and bake at 350* for 1 hour or until the cake tests done. While the cake is cooking, prepare the topping. shopping list
How to make it
- Topping:
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1-1/2 tsp. dark corn syrup
- 1-1/2 c. sugar
- 1-1/2 sticks butter
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- In a saucepan, cook the buttermilk, corn syrup, sugar and butter until the butter melts. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Stir well. Poke holes all over the cake and pour the topping over the hot cake.
