Christmas Cut-out Cookies

- 1/2 lb butter, 2 sticks shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 2 teasp. vanilla shopping list
- 3 cups sifted flour shopping list
- 1/2 teasp. baking powder shopping list
- 1/8 teasp salt shopping list
How to make it
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
- beat in egg and vanilla
- sift together flour, baking powder and salt
- stir into butter mixture
- chill well
- roll out small portions at a time to slightly less than 1/8'' thick
- cut out with cookie cutters
- place 1' apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
- bake at 350' for 10-12 mins or until edges are very lightly browned
- when cool let your imagination be your guide to decorating them
- icing mix that I use is:
- 1 egg white, 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 teasp. water. vanilla optional
- beat egg white until foamy. gradually add in the sugar. beat until smooth . beat in water 1 teasp at a time. you can add different food colorings in also.
