Cheddar Cheese Scones

- 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 Tbs. baking powder shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- dash black pepper shopping list
- 4 ounces cream cheese very soft at room temperature shopping list
- 4 ounces (about 2 cups) finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh chives or as desired shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list

- Beat 1 egg and 2 Tbs milk shopping list
How to make it
- Heat the oven to 400F
- Combine 2 1/2 cups of the flour, the baking powder, and salt, pepper, sugar, in a large bowl.
- Add the cream cheese and cheddar cheese and toss gently with a fork until combined.
- Add the chives and toss gently mix with a fork until combined.
- Combine egg and milk and gently stir into dry ingredients with a fork to form a soft dough.
- One may need to add a bit more flour for a soft dough
- Divide the dough in half.
- On a floured surface, gently form each half into a circle about 6 inches across and one inch thick
- Cut each into 6 wedges with a sharp knife but don't cut all the way through
- Carefully place each scone circle on greased baking sheet.
- Brush tops with an egg wash or brush with some cream
- Bake in a preheated 400F oven, middle rack,20 to 25 minutes or golden
- Cool to warm , cut through to divide and serve with jam and butter if desired
- These freeze well and may be gently reheated in the micro
