From midgelet 10 years agoIngredients
- 1 whole chicken shopping list
- chicken seasoning as desired shopping list
- 1 large onion chopped shopping list
- few smashed cloves of garlic shopping list
- 1 lemon halved shopping list
- corn starch or flour for the gravy shopping list
How to make it
- Remove any excess fat from the chicken
- Remove any liver-giblets etc. from the inside of chicken
- Season the chicken liberally with your favorite chicken dry rub, etc inside and out
- Coarse chop a large onion and place it in your crock pot
- Place the chicken on the onions
- Stuff a lemon sliced in half into the chicken cavity
- That's it- no liquid is required
- Cook low about 6+ hours OR chicken is fully cooked
- Carefully lift out chicken to a serve platter or serving dish , chicken will fall off the bone
- Strain the liquid in the cooker and, transfer liquid to a pot- reserve the onions for garnish
- Make a gravy if desired by adding some flour and cooking and stirring till desired thickness
- Season gravy as desired
- Note: one needs a large crock pot and of course cooking times will differ somewhat which each make/model of crock pot one uses.
- Also Note, this chicken does not have crispy skin as does a roast chicken has but the chicken does get coloration from the seasonings used and the heat from the crockpot
