How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375F. Grease a loaf pan.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, lemon zest, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.
  • Seperately, combine the remaining ingredients.
  • Add the wet mix to the dry ingredients and blend. Do not over-mix.
  • Pour into pan and bake 40 minutes, or until it tests done.
  • Cool 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack and cooling completely.

    It was awesome!! I've been searching & experimenting. This one nailed it for me! I did add some raisins though, not alot, didn't want to overpour it & ruin it. What size pan should I use though? I think my bread pan was too big. No harm in doubling it? I've been asked to make it for a gathering

    Buttermilk is also known as "sour milk" sometimes, you can make it by adding 1 tbsp vinegar to 1 cup milk. Lemon zest is the yellow part of the lemon peel.

    This was really good! I didn't have any lemon zest (where is my zester??) and used light brown sugar. I had it hot out of the oven with butter. Yummy. Seemed like it would be nice with some raisins in it and I don't even like raisins! :) Good recipe. Thank you.
