Ham And Potato Au Gratin

- 3 russet potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/8 inch thick shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter shopping list
- 1/2 onion, diced shopping list
- 1 tbsp. flour shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- 2 cups milk, heated shopping list
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded (I used Kraft 4 cheese blend) shopping list
- 2 cups ham, diced shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375
- Spray 2 qt. baking dish with cooking spray
- Cut potatoes into 1/8 inch slices (I used a mandolin)
- In saucepan over medium heat, melt butter
- Add onion and cook until tender
- Stir in flour, salt and pepper
- Cook, stirring constantly until almost bubbly
- Remove from heat
- Slowly stir in milk and then 1 1/2 cups cheese
- Over med low heat, stirring constantly heat until cheese is melted
- Spread 1/2 potatoes in casserole dish
- Spread ham over potatoes
- Add remaining potatoes
- Pour cheese sauce over casserole
- Bake covered 1 hour
- Top with remaining cheese
- Bake uncovered until top is golden brown and bubbly
