Peach Upside-down Cake

- 1/3 cup butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 2 cans sliced peaches drained, or 5 ripe peaches shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups flour shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup soft shortening shopping list
- 2/3 cup milk shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. lemon juice shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 350
- Melt butter in heavy 10 inch skillet or square pan, 9x9x1 3/4 inches
- Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the butter
- Arrange the cut peaches over the sugar- butter mixture
- Stir flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl
- Add shortening, milk, vanilla, and lemon
- Beat 2 minutes on medium speed
- Scrape sides and bottom of the bowl constantly
- Add egg and beat 2 more minutes
- Bake 45 minutes
- Turn immediately over on a platter, but leave pan over cake for 3min
- Serve warm with wipped cream
