Easy Hot Spinach, Cheddar & Bacon Dip

- 2 slices bacon shopping list
- 8 cups loosely-packed fresh spinach leaves, stems removed & coarsely chopped shopping list
- 1/4 cup diced onion shopping list
- 2 oz. cream cheese shopping list
- 1/4 tsp worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder shopping list
- 1/2 cup mild cheddar cheese, shredded shopping list
- Tabasco sauce (several hearty shakes of the bottle) shopping list
- 2 Tblsps milk, if needed shopping list
- salt & pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Fry the bacon and remove to paper towels to drain.
- Saute the onion in a small amount of the bacon drippings, add the spinach (rinsed and with water clinging to the leaves) and cook until wilted. Remove spinach mixture from pan, reserving cooking liquid.
- Add the cream cheese (cubed) to the liquid in the pan and stir until melted. Mix in worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, tabasco sauce, and cheese. Stir in spinach mixture and, if necessary, add milk to thin to the proper dipping consistency. Add salt & pepper to taste.
- Stir in the crumbled bacon, use some for a garnish if desired.
- Serve with Wheat Thins crackers.
