How to make it
- Just mix thoroughly, that's all there is to it.
- I used to put a blob of yogurt on top of a serving of thick soup for a cooling contrast, with a shake of dried dill or something on it for looks. But plain yogurt by itself is very blah and I don't particularly care for the taste. Adding just a little salt, onion and garlic takes away the blandness, gives it a great flavor and makes it comparable to sour cream.
- For dips I just add more seasonings and additions.
- Note - Yogurt doesn't work well as a sour cream substitute in cooked foods unless you add it right at the end, as in take the pan off the heat first. If you get yogurt too hot it will quickly break (i.e. curdle).
