Incident affecting Google Voice

Please note, this information is based on our best knowledge at the time of posting and is subject to change as our investigation continues. If you have experienced impact outside of what is listed below, please reach out to Google Support by opening a case using https://cloud.google.com/support (All Times US/Pacific) Incident Start: 25 August 2021 11:17 Incident End: 25 August 2021 16:07 Duration: 4 hours, 50 minutes Affected Services and Features: Google Voice Description: Google Voice experienced elevated call failures for mobile devices and some dedicated VOIP devices for a duration of 4 hours, 50 minutes. From preliminary analysis, the root cause of the issue was a rapid increase in VOIP registration traffic, which overloaded internal components. The issue has been mitigated by increasing capacity of affected internal components. Customer Impact: Less than 5% of Google Voice users experienced failures for inbound and outbound calls on mobile and some dedicated VOIP devices. Users connecting through the web client would have seen significantly less impact.

A subset of VOIP inbound and outbound calls are failing to register with the service.
