When an aged and grizzled man insists on selling twins Meghan and Colin Jacoby an ancient book of spells and then vanishes from the carnival grounds moments later, well, to ignore this would also mean ignoring the other impossible things suddenly happening around them.
Magical type thingsā¦ like, talking books, animals popping out of fires, creatures lurking in the lake, fiery visions come trueā¦ plus oddly dressed neighbors arriving out of nowhere and afraid of something that stalks the night sky.
And just when the twins think things canāt get any stranger, thatās when the spell book has a dangerous warning: an ancient evil is coming, and itās coming for themā¦
But why? Colin is thirteen going on eighteen but stuck in the body of a ten-year-oldāhe lives to disappear into a fantasy novel for days. His twin sister Meghan despises reading anything without pictures and spends her days picking fights with the bullies that target her geeky brother.
Theyāre just regular thirteen-year-old twinsāwell, they have spent their lives traveling around the countryside with their uncle in his travel trailer.
Granted, not completely normal, but nothing at all remotely magical or otherworldlyāwell, if you donāt count their ability to hear each otherās thoughts, or that their parents died mysteriously, or that their uncle has a rule to move every few weeksāuntil summertime, when they return to the same campgroundā¦ like heās waiting for something.
But what could this possibly have to do with them?
A few oddities hardly equal a hidden magical historyā¦ right?
Can they unravel the secrets in time?
Or will magic be lost to these ancient enemies, plunging an unaware world into a magical nightmare?
I think these reviews help sum up the series well:Ā
"This sweeping complex series of 11 books is riveting, rollicking and ultimately very satisfying. Following the lives of 3 young children in particular whose identities and relationships (like so many others in this saga) are not what they initially appear to be, these page-turners are packed with Magic, Pathos, Teenage Angst, Humor, Anticipation, Conspiracy, War and Peace, Bucolic Love, Time Travel... everything but the kitchen sink!
I picked up Book 1 on a Friday night and binge read all 11 by Tuesday morning! If you ever thought you were somehow āSpecial,ā or ever wanted to āSave the World,ā these books are for YOU.
Totally engaging and completely believable, the emotional roller coaster keeps the reader invested in each intricate convoluted detail while orchestrating its ultimate message of Love, with a few lessons in Morality along the way. So many comparisons to Past, Present and Future situations are readily apparent.
So snuggle up on a rainy day and embark on a new adventure... I can promise you a surprise around every corner and some serious Fun!" - Amazon reviewer
"Ascend, book 11 of the Fated Saga, was an absolute joy and surprise to read. While I believe most of us who have been along for the read since the beginning expected some sort of happy ending, I don't think anyone could have anticipated this. Ascend wraps up each and every character's story arc and leaves no stone unturned.

The fact that the ending took me so completely by surprise is one of the things I loved most about this book. Each character felt like a real person, despite the magical world they lived in. The series, as a whole, dealt with topics like love, hate, discrimination, jealousy and finding yourself and was able to stay true to the story. Nothing felt contrived.
The bottom line is just WOW. I was thrown by the twists I never saw coming as well as the resolutions I'd hoped for but had no idea how the author could bring about. I do hope we get to read about more of either the characters or the beautiful world created for them."
