Trying to get from Paris to Brussels, it failed me. The high speed trains could not be reserved (because of the Olympics). When I chose routes that didn't require reservations, I was able to see just two alternatives for the entire day, and one wasn't actually possible due to my time constraints. When I looked on a map, and tried several cities to connect between, I found alternatives, that were faster w/fewer connections. It's also a pain to switch between tickets & reservations.

The app regularly redirects to the website, which frequently doesn't work well, and isn't fully compatibile with the app - trips created on one don't always transfer to the other. The app also didn't work properly with the paper pass that I bought through Renfe, which was extremely confusing. It also regularly recommends exchanges between trains of only a few minutes, without providing other options that will actually be possible in the event that the first of the trains is delayed.

This has gone a long way since my last interrail trip 15 years ago, there are still a few quirks but it's hard to blame interrail for them, they have done an insane job. It's most of the time easy as child's play to plan a trip or book a reservation when needed. It makes me feel free as a bird. Don't expect a lot of comfort in all trains, go with the flow and relax because things will not always go as planned, but it's one of the best travelling experiences I've known, hugely recommend.
