Works exactly like it says. What you get out of it depends on what you put in. You might not match with a compatible penpal for a while, which isn't something the app is missing; it's just a numbers game. I actually thought it would take longer to send and receive messages. It seems to work as if the letter goes straight on a plane when you press the send button, instead of taking into account the time spent in a post box or at the post office. A penpal is still a penpal though.

I downloaded this app because I thought the logo was cute and now I really like it. I find myself actually looking forward to the messages I get, since their arrival is delayed according to how far away the sender is. It's a nice compromise between instant messaging and actually sending a letter in the mail. I just wish I could search for people based on language proficiency, or at least filter out people who only have a language marked as "Interested." I use the app to find Japanese language speakers, and finding people who are "interested" in Japanese, along with 4 or 5 other languages, is not helpful.

One of the best apps around here for sure. I've been coming on and off from Slowly mostly because of personal reasons and in very different periods of my life since around 2018. The app has surely changed a lot, but its initial essence it's still there. I'm happy to pay the subscription to support the creative team. Only two details I have: web login session is expiring everytime I use it, and please add a more specific age limit, I don't wanna talk to minors or people between 0-20 years old.
