About this app

Improve your learning experience with flashcards: create your own study sets, and select your favorite way to memorize the cards. Spaced repetition and smart reminders will help you to study efficiently. The app works offline.

You can make your dictionary with transcriptions, samples, and associative images and study your words with 5 different games.
The app also has auto-translation (powered by DeepL Translation API).

Ideally will suit you, if:

1. You're a student or a schoolboy. You need to memorize material and quickly learn plenty of foreign words.
Build your word's list in an Excel file, and import and study words between lessons. Share your cards with others.

2. You are a teacher. Prepare a list of words (phrases) in Excel and distribute the file to all your students by email or Telegram.

3. You are studying a foreign language in courses. After each lesson, make a list of new words(phrases) and learn them when you have a minute: in the subway, tram, staying in a queue, or even outside the city. Yes, this is also possible, since the application works without the Internet.

4. You already know a foreign language, but want to expand your vocabulary. Write interesting and unfamiliar words, translate them automatically, and learn word's cards when you have time.

5. You are an expert in a foreign language and with pleasure seek any interesting nuances. Your goal is to create your own dictionary! Record all the interesting moments in Lexilize Flashcards; you can always find them in a second.

This app really has great potential and very unique features, such as being able to choose the language one is studying and having it in reverse as well. At the same time, I think that's also where its potential is cut a bit short; because the app is targetting multiple languages, its features aren't really specific to any language in particular. For instance, for German is useful being able to distinguish the genders of nouns, but for Japanese it's more useful knowing the type of adjective or, in connection to example sentences, knowing when the same word is acting as a noun, a verb, or when it gets a completely different meaning (not to mention the on and kun readings of kanji). Yet I suppose the app itself is more geared towards learning words= nouns, in a simple flashcard style, rather than detailed grammar, verb conjugation or Chinese characters. I suppose it would be pretty time consuming if not impossible to build an app that would have specific features according to each language. I would love for the app to support Windows as well, so that I'd be able to manage categories and add new words and pics quickly in my PC with a big screen and keyboard rather than my smartphone. I would like to also be able to copy/ move default words into another folder.

Dear F. C, Thank you for your review! 👍 If you want to move the word to another category : long press the word, click on the icon with three points in the right-hand side and then move. We wish you success with foreign language! Best regards, Lexilize Flashcards

The UI leaves a little to be desired (-1 star), it is not as clean as some other apps. That said, it functions perfectly and has fantastic customization options to help you better remember words and phrases. Great vocabulary tool to use alongside other means of study to flesh out your dictionary! It's also not pushy, spammy or judgemental. I have been using it free now for a few hours and not once even noticed ads invading my learning.

Don't bother. Another app maker that has forgotten you're the customer. I wanted an app that I could use and was willing to pay for it, and within 30 seconds, I realized they were out of touch with their customer. Could be a great product. It might be junk, but the games it plays to get started made me delete and move on.
