I had a great time with this game for a while, even though it demands a lot of your time every day. Unfortunately, in the past months, the game has gone in a different direction that is very much pay to win. I cannot recommend it anymore, unless you are ok with spending 80 bucks per month for the battle passes and still getting unwinnable matchups, because your opponent spent 300 bucks to unlock an undefeatable character that can only be bought for real money.

Came back to the game after taking a year long break to see if there were any improvements and was very disappointed. The pay to win aspect was always there, but wow, they've really leaned into it even more. Can't even unlock new characters now without buying them for hundreds of dollars. The game used to be somewhat free to play friendly, but now it's just a joke.

A formerly fun and free game that has now become thinly veiled pay to play. A series of bad decisions are running this into the ground, don't think it'll be long before it collapses entirely at this rate. A real shame as it was one of my favourite games and reading my previous review (before this necessary edit) drives home how bad things have gotten. A complete 180 turn in terms of game quality and player experience.
