I've had multiple occasions where Wallet has played the ding sound and shown the blue tick animation, but the payment actually failed to go through. Makes me wonder how many times I've not noticed, nor has the shop keeper, and have inadvertently been a shop lifter. 😟 I use Wallet day in day out, so this is not a phone or app settings thing. It could be a payment provider thing, but it has happened at major supermarkets as well as at small local shops and market stalls.

A bit annoying that it requires you to unlock your phone if you haven't in a while (when you want to pay). Also note that if you switch phones, then any cards you've added via a photo will not transfer. You'll have to re-add them to Wallet. Added plane tickets also don't seem to update when info has changed. These problems aside, it works well in general. It's a lot quicker and more responsive than using my bank's own app to pay. For public transport, you can disable the unlock requirement.

Installed, setup as instructed, with compatible device, I verified credit cards and ID. On first use at a terminal, with phone unlocked, NFC on, app went into ID verification loop on first tap and I was unable to pay. Lots of users with similar experiences I've discovered. Useless app. Uninstalled. Clearly user experience not at the centre of Google's mission on this one. Avoid. Sticking with a physical card until an app that works becomes available. iPhones starting to look more attractive.
