One of Japan's best-loved RPG developers has signed on with Sega to make a new next-gen console RPG. tri-Ace and Sega are in cahoots on a new project called Resonance of Fate which is set to launch in North America in spring 2010. tri-Ace is best known for the Star Ocean and Valkyrie franchises, as well as last year's Xbox 360 exclusive release Infinite Undiscovery.
Developed by Tokyo-based tri-Ace Inc., Resonance of Fate redefines the RPG genre with a unique storyline, highly stylized graphics, and an emphasis on realistic gunplay and engrossing action. Players will be immersed in a gritty, highly mechanized world unlike any other. With Hollywood-style action sequences, customizable weapons, and memorable characters, Resonance of Fate takes players far beyond the boundaries of the typical RPG.

"SEGA is delighted to partner with tri-Ace Inc." said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "tri-Ace's impressive pedigree of rich and engrossing titles combined with SEGA's commitment to delivering quality properties are a winning combination."

Bryn says: This news is sure to please the hardcore JRPG crowd quite a bit. In fact, if you listen carefully, you'll most likely be able to hear GameSpy's Gerald Villoria explode in a shower of excitement when he hears the news.

Spring 2010 is quite a way off yet, so here's hoping tri-Ace and Sega make the wait worthwhile.
