We got word in August LucasArts planned to release a demo for its upcoming Starkiller sequel, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, and now we know when we'll get to play it: next week.

Via the official Star Wars web site, LucasArts announced it will launch the Force Unleashed 2 demo on Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network on Tuesday, October 12.

The rundown on the demo from LucasArts:
The level focuses on the very beginning of the game, which takes place in a secret cloning facility on the planet of Kamino. Starkiller, told by Vader he is no more than a clone, becomes tormented by the memories of his past and escapes into the rain-soaked planet with Vader not far behind.

Unleash the power of dual lightsabers, over-top Force powers including the new Jedi mind trick, and get a first taste of a journey that will take Starkiller across the galaxy in search of the truth behind his past, as well as the woman he cannot forget.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is set to ship on October 28 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Windows PCs.

Sharkey says: There were some serious flaws with the original, namely the wonky targeting system, all over the map force powers (bringing down an in-flight Imperial Star Destroyer is just plain ridiculous) and the maddening save setup. LucasArts has its work cut out, and I look forward to seeing how things have been upgraded in the demo.
