Mexico has the fifth of May to celebrate its victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. Star Wars has May the fourth... because it's grammatically convenient. And on this day of fictional intergalactic celebration, LucasArts is providing a bit of news: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 is scheduled to launch on October 26.
Since the game was announced in December with a teaser trailer, we've heard little from LucasArts about the sequel to the multiplatform title that, according to the NPD group, was the third-best selling game of 2008. And in making its announcement on the game's official Facebook page today, LucasArts remained tight lipped.
"May The Fourth be with you, since it will be Unleashed Oct 26th, 2010!" the short and sweet status update posted this afternoon reads.
The little we do know: players will once again assume the role of Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice, and, thanks to today's announcement, the game will be released on October 26. That's it for now, but we'll keep you posted.
Sharkey says: I wanted to love The Force Unleashed. I really did. Unfortunately, I came away from the game disappointed. Great story, but the targeting mechanic made gameplay meh. Hopefully, the folks at LucasArts will fulfill the promise of the first game with the sequel.
