Gamers across the pond donned Fedoras en masse last week, making Team Bondi and Rockstar's 1940's crime thriller, L.A. Noire, the fastest-selling new video game franchise ever in the UK.

Sales of L.A. Noire are "on par" with the launch of Rockstar's last debut IP chart-topper, Red Dead Redemption, according to the GFK Chart Track's weekly sales report. And at this point, L.A. Noire is the 13th fastest-selling Xbox 360 game in the UK and the 11th fastest on the PlayStation 3.

The GFK Chart Track all-formats top 10:
1. L.A. Noire
2. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean
3. Brink
4. Zumba Fitness
5. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
6. Crysis 2
7. Portal 2
8. FIFA 11
9. Mortal Kombat
10. Call of Duty: Black Ops
In a related story, Team Bondi's Brendan McNamara tells GamerLive that the next L.A. Noire is already in the early stages of development and won't take nearly as long to make as the five-year development cycle for the original. Further, McNamara said the studio is currently looking to take its MotionScan technology to the next level and capture full body performances by actors and not just faces.

Sharkey says: Congrats to Team Bondi. And I can't wait to see what full-body MotionScan looks like in a game. Should be amazing. What else would you like to see in L.A. Noire 2?
