Codemasters' action game Heist has officially been canceled, reports C&VG. The 1960s-themed title was being developed by inXile Entertainment. The publisher is apparently concentrating on releasing "high-quality titles," and it would seem as though Heist didn't make the cut.
"After a much extended development period, Heist has been terminated as a project and removed from our release schedule," a Codemasters spokesperson told CVG. "Codemasters is focusing its future portfolio on high quality titles that will, in the majority, be developed and produced by our internal studios."
Heist was originally announced back in March 2007 and was set to arrive on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Bryn says: It's always a shame when a game that's been in development for a long time gets the boot. But if Codemasters is now concentrating on high quality games and it decided to can Heist, then surely that speaks volumes about how the game was shaping up. I'm wondering what inXile thinks about this, and what the studio will turn its hand to next.
