In the interest of nipping nerd-rage in the bud, allow me to preemptively lay out my case for scoring Forza 3 slightly lower than Need for Speed: Shift by indulging in a car analogy. Shift is a Pagani Zonda -- a brutish, screeching, exceedingly fun machine to play with. In comparison, Forza 3 is a Volkswagen -- brilliantly engineered, fully featured, and slightly less fun to drive. If you agree, as I indicated in my Shift review, that racing is best when presented as an assault on the senses, then Forza 3 might not be the game for you. On October 27th Microsoft and Turn 10 will unleash the long-awaited driving sim Forza Motorsport 3 for the Xbox 360. We've just heard that there's a plan afoot to include a redeemable token inside every copy of the game, which will allow players to download the completely free Motorsports Legends Car Pack.

Microsoft has sent word (via Joystiq) that Turn 10's upcoming Forza Motorsport 3 has now gone gold. A playable demo will also be performing a handbrake turn on Xbox Live's Marketplace on September 24th.

Xbox 360 racing aficionados are likely to be getting very excited about now. Three months from now, Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 3 will launch in North America in two flavors: the regular edition and the Limited Collector's Edition which we reported on recently.

Forza Motorsport 3 will hit the asphalt of North America on October 27th, according to a press release sent out by Microsoft. The game's getting a special Limited Collector's Edition version too, which gives up some exclusive Turn 10 tuned-and-painted cars plus VIP membership status.
