Remember how gamers flipped out when Square Enix casually revealed that Final Fantasy XIII was coming to the Xbox 360? Remember the hideous PS3 vs. X360 threads in message boards? Well, Eurogamer is reporting that Square Enix has officially gone on the record as saying that the game will release here in the West on both platforms simultaneously.
"We don't have the actual month down yet, but in Japan it's scheduled for a winter release, and in Europe and North American territories it's spring 2010," producer Yoshinori Kitase told VG247 at gamescom.

"For Europe and North American, the PS3 and 360 versions are going to be released simultaneously."
According to the piece, the European and North American versions of the game will be localised much faster than previously thought.

Bryn says: We've talked about the fervour of console loyalists before, but nothing really struck a chord like this Final Fantasy XIII business. Imagine what would happen if Halo came to the PS3? Or if God of War arrived on the Xbox 360?

It would surely spell the end of civilization, no?
