European gamers will be able to get the first look at Bethesda's second downloadable content update for Fallout 3. The current issue of UK Official Xbox Magazine unveils the expansion, referring to The Pitt's shattered take on Pittsburgh as, "a stunning dystopuia that's unlike any other area in Fallout 3's world."

According to the article, The Pitt consists of a large underground "dungeon" area, an abandoned steel yard, and a downtown area split between slaves and their masters. The magazine article also claims that players will be able to interact with Raiders for the first time, using words instead of parlaying with the business end of a bullet. One major quest has you take on the role of a slave, investigating the Raiders from within.

The Pitt is due for release through Xbox Live and Games for Windows this March.

Gerald: I was mildly disappointed by Operation Anchorage. It was fun, and I gave it a good review score, but as I stated in the review, it didn't really feel like it fit in with what made me fall in love with Fallout 3. By stripping out the RPG elements, we were left with a passable shooting experience that only slightly added to the Fallout universe. The Pitt, on the other hand, looks like it will be the real deal, expanding the scope of The Capital Wasteland and giving me a great reason to pop the game in for a couple more hours.
