I was hoping for more from Mothership Zeta. In reviewing the various Fallout 3 DLC releases I've always appreciated a refreshing change of scenery, as one of my gripes with the core game is that there isn't quite enough variety to the environments. Sure, there's plenty to discover in the Capital Wasteland, but I hunger for more than the bleak expanse of drab, brown, lifeless terrain and the muted greys of Washington D.C.'s toppled steel and mortar landmarks.
This has largely been addressed with post-release content, in the form of Bethesda's official downloadable content expansions as well as some creative player mods for the PC version. Since Operation Anchorage's experiment in stripping away the role-playing game mechanics, these expansions have followed a similar plan of action. With any of the releases you can expect to find some new gear, explore some new regions, and tack on an evening's worth of adventure onto Fallout 3's already sizable offerings. Life in the Capital Wasteland is about to change for the Lone Wanderer from Vault 101 thanks to a genuine alien abduction. Bethesda has unveiled the first screenshots for Mothership Zeta, the next Fallout 3 DLC, rife with imagery of robots, spaceships, and laser guns that will undoubtedly go "pew pew pew."
