It's turning out to be a happy holiday season for Battlefield fans. Electronic Arts and DICE announced today that VIP Map Pack 7 will bring four new battlegrounds to the popular shooter tomorrow and the Battlefield: Bad Comapny 2 Vietnam expansion will arrive on a Huey chopper in time for Christmas.

Map Pack 7 will be a free download for those who bought the game new and include Oasis and Harvest Day, two of the most popular multiplayer maps from the original Battlefield: Bad Company. Cold War and Heavy Metal, two maps from the BC2's single-player campaign are also getting the multiplayer treatment. Check the trailer for details:

"This is your chance to relive the awesomeness of fan favorite map Oasis, plus three more maps never before available in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer," EA stated on the Battlefield blog.

And BC2 will get even bigger on December 18 when the Vietnam expansion pack launches for PC players on the Steam and the EA Store for $15. The console version will be available for download three days later on December 21.

EA noted that in order to play VIP Map Pack 7 and the Vietnam expansion, players first need to update the game with Multiplayer Update 3, which is available for download today.

Sharkey says: Kudos to EA and DICE for continuing to support Bad Company 2 -- a game released nine months ago -- with strong content. In the era of $15 map packs, free maps are much appreciated and $15 expansions appear well worth the price tag.
