Battlefield 3 was the talk of GDC last night after EA and DICE showed off gameplay footage that demonstrates what the studio's new Frostbite 2 engine is capable of. See what the buzz was about for yourself with nearly 3 minutes from the Battlefield 3 campaign in the Fault Line trailer.

Just how impressed were critics by what they saw? PC Gamer editor Tim Edwards had this to say: "It's built for the PC, to showcase what the PC is capable of. And it's the best looking PC game in the world right now." Get a taste below:



Battlefield 3 is being developed for Windows PCs, the Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The game is scheduled for release sometime this fall.


Sharkey says: This one is worth a couple replays to really get a sense what all the talk is about. The soldiers move in a more natural way, the lighting effects -- from the bright sun outdoors to the sparks thrown off by a broken fluorescent bulb -- are off the charts, and, if you've got decent speakers on your PC, the sound is amazing. But I will say this: I could really care less about the campaign. Battlefield is all about the multiplayer for me, and I'm itching to see it in action.
