A report on industry news web site Gameindustry.biz indicates that Bethesda Softworks, the Maryland-based developer that recetly released Fallout 3, may release a new Elder Scrolls RPG as soon as 2010.

In the report, Bethesda executive Paul Oughton is quoted as saying, "At the moment we've got Fallout 3 for this year and potentially there's a new Elder Scrolls title in 2010."

Bethesda Softworks' Elder Scrolls adventures are a long-running series of role-playing games notable for their open worlds and free-roaming style. The most recent games in the series, Morrowind and Oblivion, recieved high critical notice from reviewers. The company's most recent product, Fallout 3, applied that same gameplay style to the post-apocalyptic sequel to the beloved Interplay and Black Isle Fallout games. It too has begun to garner extensive critical praise.
