Eden Games

Formerly known as Eden Studios, Eden Games was a videogame design firm in France that was founded by Stephane Baudet, Frederic Jay and David Nadal. The company designed and developed for consoles as well as PC platforms.

Originally, Eden was an in-house development team at Infogrames, where it designed Asterix The Gaul, The Smurfs, Tintin and finally its signature V-Rally titles. On January 5, 1998, Eden was spun off as a standalone studio. In May of 2002, Eden Studios' managers decided to sell their company to the Infogrames Group (later known as Atari,) changing its name in September of 2003 to Eden Games. The company delivered hit games such as Alone in the Dark: Inferno, Kya: Dark Lineage, and the blockbuster Test Drive Unlimited games.

Parent company Atari suffered a number of market failures towards the end of Eden Studios' business run, and was forced to lay off a large portion of the staff in 2011 following the release of the team's final game, Test Drive Unlimited 2. The company was kept alive (on paper, at least) all the way until 2013, when it was finally liquidated.
