April NPD numbers have been released upon the internets! While overall it was a slow month for console sales, the Nintendo DS managed to dominate the NPDs, with two games in the top 10 software list for April, as well as over one million units sold across the DS games. Here's a breakdown of the 10 best-selling software titles for April, as well as the numbers for hardware (thanks, Shacknews):

Top 10 Best-selling Software:

Hardware Numbers:

  • 1. Playstation 2 – 172,000 units

  • 2. Playstation 3 – 127, 000 units

  • 3. PSP – 116,000 units

  • 4. Xbox 360 – 175,000 units

  • 5. Wii – 340,000 units

  • 6. Nintendo DS – 1,040,000 units

Anthony says: Individually some of those numbers look pretty bad, but overall Sony probably did alright for itself considering the PS2 is sold at a profit and it sold more than either the PS3 or 360. And while it overall was a slow month, Nintendo has a lot to be happy about, as not only did it outsell everything in both the handheld and home console market, but it also managed to have six of the 10 best-selling pieces of software, some of which are over a year old, exclusive to its platforms.
