As the year wraps up and the weather turns cold, house party season kicks into high gear. Halloween parties, Thanksgiving parties, the holidays ... before long you'll find your family room and kitchen crammed with people, gamers and non-gamers alike. "Here we are now!" they shout. "Entertain us!"
Fortunately there's a whole class of games that pander to this unruly mob, especially if they're drinking. We call them "Party Games," and Nintendo is probably the king: that company knows how to crank out simple, fast, and fun games that have a wide appeal. But there are others. Without further hub-bub, here's GameSpy's Top 10 Party Games!
10. Mario Kart Double Dash!! (GCN)
Props Required: GameCube, 4 Controllers
Optional Props: Beverages and Nerf Bats
There are games of skill. And then there are games where you throw bananas at other cars. Mario Kart is both.
Mario Kart has been a real crowd-pleaser since the old SNES days. In fact the gameplay is so good that you can still bust out the N64 version today and have a roaring time. But Double Dash!!, with two drivers per car, just leads to all-around mayhem. We absolutely recommend this with all four controllers so that you can peg the craziness needle. Everyone can have a good time with this one -- and with the short race times, you can constantly pass the controller, so it works with any size crowd.
