Much like World War II, the struggle between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire is a conflict that gamers seem to be willing to fight over and over again. Between the entire GameSpy staff, we've destroyed the Death Star 558 times. This December you'll be able to take part in the early days of the struggle against the Empire, thanks to Ubisoft's upcoming action adventure game, Star Wars: Lethal Alliance. SW:LA is being developed specifically for the PSP and Nintendo DS handhelds and tells the story of a Twi'lek named Rianna Saren and Zeeo, her security droid.

Apparently, Rianna does a bit of freelance work and is hired by the Rebel Alliance to discover the Empire's secret weapon, the Death... something. Death Sun? Death Spore? Death Blossom? Oh, right, the Death Star. Gamers will get to play both Rianna and Zeeo as they blast countless stormtroopers from Coruscant to Mos Eisley. Ubisoft says that never-before-seen locations such as Despayre, Danuta and Alderaan will be included in SW:LA, and key Star Wars characters such as Kyle Katarn, Darth Vader, Princess Leia and Boba Fett will make an appearance.

Multiplayer modes are also included for each version of the game, and Ubisoft says that each version of SW:LA will be "taking advantage of the unique capabilities of both the PSP system and the Nintendo DS." We're especially curious about how this game will use the touch screen on the DS.
